That is to say, it has a slight pause every couple of seconds after each of which a fuller tone of the song comes out. Utilizing an acoustic guitar that is confident and solid, this track really speaks to the talent of the artist. "The Bounce," as its name may suggest, is a groovy, danceable tune, and has slow moving tempo interludes; adding to the easy listening vibe that comes with each of these tracks. All around, "The Certaintity of Being Found" is great for fans that enjoy fresh and original ambient Reggae music.

With their 10th studio album, titled "Free Your Mind", the roots-rockers of Too Slim and the Taildraggers deliver an album deserving of a broader recognition than the semi-legendary regional status the band has garnered as a live-circuit fixture in their area. Leader Tim "Too Slim" Langford has mixed classic rock with R&B sensibilities as the Taildraggers more than ably provide a powerhouse ensemble backing on the 11 original compositions. Setting the tone with both his raspy vocals and fiery guitar work, Too Slim exhorts redemption on the slow rocker "Peace With the Maker," does battle with his demons on the blues-rock stomp of "Been Through Hell," and mines the depths of the times on the charged, minor-key gem, "Last Train." With the help of a talented trio of female singers, "Free Your Mind," while relying on a roots-rock vernacular, otherwise transcends easy categorization. The accoutrements are classic guitar-stoked rock, but the individual songs make this album less a product of a genre or type than a fully-realized rock statement. For a band whose recording career spans almost 20 years, it is no less accomplished than what you would expect, and the grit & polish of Too Slim & the Taildraggers' "Free your Mind" will be enjoyed by fans of Tom Petty and ZZ Top.

"Who Walks In," the debut album from Miss Rose and Her Rhythm Percolators, captures the sound & feel of 1920's & 1930's popular jazz styles with a mix of 11 classics & nearly forgotten songs from the era, including wonderful takes on such generation-crossing standards as "Ain't She Sweet" & "'Deed I Do". Singer & ukulele-player Sunga Rose leads a spot-on 4-piece band through a repertoire of pure nostalgia. And yet, this is no museum piece. The Rhythm Percolators quartet gives these songs new life with their deft & bouyant readings, making gems like the sprightly "At the Codfish Ball" sound almost contemporary. The Dave Rawlinson Band put together a relaxed, classic Country album with "When She's Around." Rawlinson's vocals are spot on and definitely hit that country twang without sounding trite. Like Johnny Cash before him, there are fast-paced Country duets with Alexandra Rawlinson. The song, "Big John," sounds like music from an old western soundtrack, accented with haunting whistles. "I Try to Think About Elvis" is an especially powerful track, with electric guitar and both vocalists putting in a strong performance with exceptional harmonies. "When She's Around" is a solid Country album that can easily hold it's own against any mainstream Country performers today.

Sky Cries Mary, the Seattle Trance Rock band, has released a new album titled "Space Between The Drops." It is an album undoubtedly recorded in the audiophile style, as it is an exercise in playing with spacey sounds and psychedelic rock compositions. The song "Rain" begins for a while with a growing soundscape of rain falling heavily and interspersed with moving and floating talking in the background, eventually progressing into a slow and pulsating pysch-rock song that never fully leaves the feeling of the rain it began with. The song "Want" is an emotional track that dances with darker feelings in a song that coolly extracts its feel through a medium tempo beat, strong and solid bass riff, and highlighted with expressive vocals and some sweet string synth play. "These Old Bones" is more ballad-like with a heavy focus on the sound of guitar and an outstanding male/female vocal interplay. This album is for those who appreciate the creativity of psychedelic sounds with interesting and melodic vocals and love musicians who play with that in mind. So, for those who love bands like Pink Floyd or maybe Tortoise, "Space Between the Drops" should be something you should hear.

"Illusions" by Terry Lynn Tschaekofske (Instrumental Artist from Utah(UT))

Terry Lynn Tschaekofske and his debut solo album, "Illusions," is a collection of songs in which he lets his expert guitar playing be placed center stage. The album is recorded using a variety of guitars; numerous types of sublime electric and acoustic sounds are featured on different tracks, yet on each track Terry is not accompanied by other instruments at all. He wants the listener to calmly take in the subtle and nuanced sounds of his prized instrument. On the song, "Who Was She," we hear an electric guitar slowly croon a love song. The song "Santa Cruz Lady," features an acoustic guitar employing a more upbeat sound with a slight blues influence. On the track, "Inamorata Mirage," we hear Terry's smooth double picking as he plays what comes off as a pleasing antiquated melody. This album is wonderful for relaxing and reflective moments; when one is curled up by the fire or to have playing nicely in the background for a family BBQ. If you enjoy tranquil yet talented music or simply are a fan of instrumental guitar compositions than "Illusions" is an album that you would enjoy hearing.

"Movements in the Moment" by Rhonda Lorence (Classical Artist from North Carolina(NC))

"Movements in the Moment" is the latest release from the gifted viola player Rhonda Lorence. This album was recorded employing the use of numerous vocal and instrumentation combinations that definitely qualify the sound as "Neo-Classical." However, in this album Rhonda skillfully uses the viola as the central pivot point for beautiful musical storytelling and mental picture painting. On the song, "Trail of Tears" we hear the viola placed front and center as it gradually sings a sad song which your ears will follow as if it was a tuneful tale. Then on other tracks such as "Doria" the viola takes a background seat to fluttering and airy female vocals simply singing the name Doria. Another outstanding track, "Shift it" Rhonda gives us a weave of viola picking and vocals over a snazzy yet subtle drum line. "Movements in the Moment" is an eclectic mix of classical basics meshed with modern experimentalism, with a seemingly constant emphasis on expressing emotions and stories through the music. If you are a fan of expressive Neo-Classical music or simply the viola itself then "Movements in the Moment" should be on your list of music to hear.

From the very first song, "These Waters" the recently released album by Jan Peters & The Monday Night Project, promises a collection of light, poppy, and Progressive Folk/Bluegrass style album. Peter's vocals are well complimented by some sweet and charming female vocals throughout the album while the lyrics are vibrant and uplifting. Among other tracks, "Shaking Away" has some great use of harmonica during the solo. They break out of any single genre by changing the pace with tracks like "Drumming in the Night" that offers a Blues/Soul like quality and "Primera Visita" with a catchy "cut time" bouncy feel. If Emmylou Harris had ever decided to rock out in her career, then the result would have sounded something like Davie Gayle's latest record, "Amber In The Clay." With songs ranging from country to contemporary ballads, Gayle takes us for a trip down Americana lane and does not disappoint. Her pristine country vocals sound wonderful and emulate classic Dolly Parton, but still have an original feel to it. You can hear Gayle's sweet voice on songs like "Get Me" and "You Don't Say." Looking for the Americana feel? Look no further than the title track as it is a perfect listen for anyone who enjoyed Robert Plant/Alison Krauss's disc ("Raising Sand"). There are also some fine pedal steel guitar moments on this record, as heard on "3:09." If you are looking for that timeless female country vocal tone with a little rock 'n' roll under it, then this Davie Gayle's "Amber In The Clay" is for you.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Ray William Roldan with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Where We Come From"

If Tom Petty ever went full-on country, then it would most likely sound something like Ray William Roldan's latest effort "Where We Come From." Roldan does a terrific job fusing country with pop-riddled vocal melodies and honky-tonk guitar riffs. There are some typical, yet well played country moments on this disc, particularly on songs like "My Country Rocks" and "Cowboy Cadillac." However, what make this album shine are tunes like "Back to Texas," which strongly resemble some of the later Traveling Wilburys work. Another nod to that sound comes by way of Roldan's vocals which emulate Jeff Lynne and cult country legend J.J. Cale. Ray William Roldan's "Where We Come From" is a very enjoyable disc whether you are a diehard country fan and/or love that Americana/pop style.

Looking for something new and different? Then you should give a listen to the album "The Temple of Humanity" by pop/rock band Freestone. This band emulates the cosmic tones familiarized by Pink Floyd and does a great job at reproducing those sounds. "The Ancient of Days" is a mellow song, featuring talented saxophone playing that makes the instrument sound almost as if it is singing. The title track exhibits a relaxing drum beat and equally soothing vocals. The instrumentation on this disc drips of Pink Floyd, with lush synth melodies and haunting guitar work. Although the material of Freestone's "The Temple of Humanity" is rare compared to what is "standard" today, it is a great listen for any Pink Floyd fan or ancient ritual buff and should definitely be checked out.

"The Ballad Of Billy Saigon" by Wes and Victoria is folk rock/Americana at its best and deserves a good listen from any fan of that genre. Originally hailing from Texas, the duo's work has that southern feel and is a great mix of folk, rock, country and good ol' cowboy music. Wes has a very unique singing voice that is particularly raw, letting you feel every note and word he is singing. The harmonica talent of Victoria is well highlighted on songs like "Trail of Tears," and it sounds great. There is also a very welcoming Rolling Stones-influenced number called "Love Got a Mind of Its Own," a song that could easily be compared to anything the Stones did in their best years. For listeners that enjoy folk rock and Bob Dylan, Wes and Victoria's "The Ballad Of Billy Saigon" is definitely worth listening to.

Hip-Hop takes a strange trip with Gnos-Tel-Jah and their latest album of original (and we mean original) material on "Becoming." Comprised of 2 male vocalists and 1 female vocalist, Gnos-Tel-Jah offers up a psychedelic ride of Hip-Hop fused with rock and spoken word. "Midnight Swang" represents the rap side to their debut disc with easy flowing rhymes and is reminiscent of the group Outkast. When you break it all down, Rap/Hip-Hop is basically spoken words with beats underlying the phrases. The band shows their love for this genre with 13 "chapters" which are 13 separate spoken tracks. Any fan of Outkast, Gnarls Barkley, or of spoken word will thoroughly enjoy "Becoming" as it is a new and innovating CD.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Randolph with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Euphony"

The widely eclectic album "Euphony" by Randolph offers a vast variety of both songs and acoustic instrumentation. Most full band albums consist of the usual key instruments (drums, bass, guitar, and vocals) but Randolph has opened the door wide open on his newest collection of jazz/blues/world pop with use of djembe, cajon, congas, bongos, tablas, timpani, drum kit, violin, trombone, sax/flute, alto flue, bassoon, oboe, and numerous ethnic instruments. The result is magnificent and is well displayed on songs like "That Piece of Me" and "Analog Man." The album is also filled with numerous lead vocal appearances, all of which are tastefully done and fit well within the song choice. There is also a great throwback to the singers of the '60's on songs such as "Let's Get Connected." If you are into pop/jazz or anything Elvis Costello has put out in recent years, you will enjoy "Euphony."

Cold Seattle Morning, The Song

Hello To All,

This constitutes my first blog ever. Its to share a song that was born out of an exciting romantic adventure that took me from Bellingham to Seattle, and it came out fantastic.

Its called 'Cold Seattle Morning, and its on my album 'These Waters', an 11 track cross~genre collection of songs of love, life and the mystery beyond, and a bit of "come on humanity, lets listen and open up here!" for good measure. I have a feeling Seattle folks just might love this song, and if so, some of the other songs will resonate strongly as well. Reviews of the album can be read on my site.

Its fun story....I met her in B~ham at a Thanksgiving dinner, and the attraction-connection energy was strong. But she had a flight out of Seattle at 5 am the next morning. So after a while, I offered to drive her down there. We got a room near the airport, and laughed and kissed a lot, rolled around, but left our long johns on, as the song says. The song starts with where I ended up after I got her to the airport, which was under a loudly buzzing laundry sign, as I was inspired to stop, take the morning in, take out my fiddle and sing along with the birds, sleepers in dark windows, streets and alleys, and the breaking morning sun. I didn't sleep that night ~

"Same Old Slippers" is an inspirational and excellently-crafted progressive folk album from singer/songwriter Judy Fjell. Judy is a Unitarian-Universalist lay minister, and her songs reflect her liberal yet religious disposition. Practicing what she preaches, "Same Old Slippers" is filled with eighteen solid, spiritual, upbeat, thought-provoking, and heartfelt folk songs about positivity and love, in hopes of a better tomorrow. Judy delivers a great vocal performance to compliment her great acoustic folk arrangements, and her overall sound is reminiscent of Malvina Reynolds (of "Little Boxes" fame) and Peter, Paul, and Mary. "Same Old Slippers" is well-produced, with clean vocals, crisp violin and fine acoustic instrumentation. "Oh You Know We Are One" is a great opening track as her lyrics cover religion, race, and even animals, as she sings about world unity, giving the listener insight to Judy's world perspective. "One Of Us Can Make A Difference" has a great violin and acoustic arrangement as Judy argues that, through "loving thoughts and positive actions," it only takes three people to change the world. "If There Is A God" is a controversial track with deep lyrics about Judy's personal religious battle, where which she sings that, God or no God, there is good and grace in this world. "Same Old Slippers" truly is an inspirational album that asks us to look past our minor discrepancies and realize that we are all the same. Fans of excellent folk music with a thought-provoking and positive message, be sure to pick this one up.

"It's Time For Love" is a self-proclaimed rhythm & gospel live album from Minister Marvin Webb. His smooth r&b vocals are reminiscent of Marvin Gaye and Tedy Pendergrass, and together with lyrics of praise and worship, Minister Webb has crafted an inspiring contemporary gospel album. His lyrics criticize the social side of the secular world. He sings about violence and poor conditions within many communities, and politically, about the long battle for peace in the Middle East, lifting the words up and putting them in the hands of the nonsecular world. The recording quality of "It's Time For Love" is also quite good, with few traces that it is a live recording. That said, it still manages to make you feel as though you are in a house of worship. "Simon Peter" takes one of the most memorable of Jesus' prophecies and compares the audience to Simon Peter himself, inferring our imperfections and God's forgiveness. "Get Your Praise On" is a great funk gospel track with a great arrangement filled with funky lead guitar, hand claps, and a nice group vocal. Overall, "It's Time For Love" is an effective album that discusses contemporary issues and the value of praising God within each of them. Fans of contemporary gospel and worship songs prepare. Minister Webb is about to show you what rhythm & gospel is all about.

"Lord Hear My Prayer" is the debut two-song EP from Christian hip-hop artist Second Chance. Second Chance's story is one of overcoming all odds, coming close to dying over and again, repeatedly surviving, and finding God. These two songs showcase the new life, the "Second Chance", of a former gang member. Through clean, original, and well-delivered hip-hop vocals, Second Chance delivers inspirational and encouraging songs of love, of others, of yourself, and of God. The recording quality of "Lord Hear My Prayer" is great, adhering to the full potential of the great hip-hop arrangements and lyrics. The title track, "Lord Hear My Prayer" has a smooth r&b opening then moves into a great hip-hop arrangement with intimate lyrics between Second Chance and God, also featuring the smooth and soulful backing vocals of Brenton Wood. "There's Something About Your Love" has a funky arrangement with a nice beat, with another inspiring vocal from Second Chance and great synthesized backing vocals from Rufas Troutman. This two-song EP is a great introduction to Second Chance and leaves the listener in eager anticipation for more. Fans of hip-hop with largely Christian-oriented positive messages, give Second Chance a shot.

"Sing me a Song...please!" is truly an original album from singer/songwriter Lynette Louise that draws from both mainstream jazz and honky tonk country. Lynette's loungy vocal performance pairs nicely with either genre, and she takes full advantage of this with incredibly diverse and solid arrangements. Lynette is a renowned international autism expert, having taken a number of children with autism and other special needs under her wing and caring for them like family. This selfless life experience certainly glimmers forth in her songs. She is a great lyrical storyteller, as she sings about the importance of love, both toward God and children, and, as a listener, you hang onto every word. "Sing me a Song...please!" is well-recorded, and Lynette's lyrics pierce through the arrangements perfectly. "Sing Me a Song" is a jazzy and lyrical number with great yearning vocal delivery and a nice build-up. "Used to Listen" gives the listener a first taste of Lynette's honky tonk side with the incorporation of the violin, a pleasant group vocal, and great lyrics about prayer, love, and family. Though it seems an unconventional combination, Lynette Louise has put together ten inspiring tracks that draw from both jazz and honky tonk, highlighting her strong lyrical talent. Fans of either of these genres, check out this strong album from a good person.

David Hansen's "All That I Could Give-New Edition" is a wonderful piece of music that really delivers to the adult contemporary crowd. Although his background is strongly rooted in jazz music, Hansen throws out more of an adult pop punch on his most recent effort. On the title track "All That I Could Give" screams of classic James Taylor vocal approach and is smooth and silky in style. If you are looking for some soothing jazz then "Love In Three Days" is a good track to check out. It features some very well polished jazz flute riffs and invites you into the artist true musical taste. This CD could easily be spun on any light rock radio station today and is a great listen. Should you find yourself wanting to hear something new and in the musical style of James Taylor or Steve Winwood then "All That I Could Give- New Edition" is a CD you will want to add to your collection.

Aussie band Roymackonkey delivers solid, '90s era rock with their newest effort "Cassandra Never Lies." After spending the summer touring the "land down under" with Wolfmother, it seems like this band is ready to spread their sound overseas and beyond. Their sound is sort of dated, but in a good way that reminds listeners of bands like Gin Blossoms or Nirvana. "The Fear" evokes that early '90s feel more than any other song on this album and has a nice R.E.M quality to it. The groove of "Chain Letter" is very solid and has that 'hit single' vibe to it. If you are looking to reminisce with the Seattle sound you used to love but want something fresh, as opposed to hunting down your old Soundgarden albums, then definitely take a listen to Roymackonkey's "Cassandra Never Lies."

The talented musician does an outstanding job with his most recent album by fusing ethnic sounds with beats you would hear on any weekend in a club on Sunset Blvd. "La Bossa Love" features some magnificent melodic Spanish guitar work and sets the tone for the whole record. Branching away from the "Spanish" tones, Simon throws in some nicely played Indian ragas on the track "Joyfest." If you are someone who loves those classic "Buddha Bar" collections, than you will love hearing "EthnikElectrika."

Billie G. Evans Jr. serves up an outstanding collection of Hip-Hop/Jazz singles on his recent release "Bugleblack 1." Evans has found an interesting concept in mixing two genres while producing them onto one album. Electric piano and trumpet intermingle in the melodic jazz passages on "Goin' Home," while drums keep the solid beat grooving. Rap vocals are smooth and deliver clean articulation. "Lookin' Out" is a great example of fresh rhyming rap and the piano has colorful chord hits with a bouncy beat. Listeners will enjoy the flow of each song as the trumpet plays subtle riffs or harmonious melodies that enhance the energy of the music. Fans of musical groups Miles Davis or Bill Withers should listen to "Bugleblack 1," as it is well worth hearing.

"Time Is Fun When You're Having Flies" by Afterthem (Rock Artist from New Jersey(NJ))

What to make of the outrageous, quirky, mad, goofy, fantastic, funky, and unpredictable sounds of Afterthem? On their latest CD (the 8th since their '03 debut), the aptly titled "Time Is Fun When You're Having Flies," the 5-piece band serves up their brand of deranged psycho-savant-funk-jazz with all the subtlety of the proverbial flying mallet. The CD opener, "Misses Johnson" starts things appropriately enough with a discordant workout over a rhythm whose time signature would give Dave Brubeck a fit of rage. But like an aperitif before a grand feast, the fun is only just beginning. When not channeling the spirit – if not the voice – of mad genius Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet), the bulk of the 18 track album defies categorization or description. Part avant garde, part inspired lunacy, 2/3's part Tom Waits carnival barker's delirium and half sheer inscrutability, it's a veritable hall of sonic mirrors, casting strange and surreal sounds at the listener to confound, confuse, and - if patient enough, utterly floor. And while the singer warns, "just don't get too close" on the whacked-out funk jam, "Coolo Daddyo," my advice is – as to a boxer taking a pounding in the ring – get this album in a clinch and don't let go.

In this day and age, our lives are rushed and hurried from the hectic/stress of everyday living. One needs to have a time of serenity to release the mind of the worries of the day. Theresa Tremmel has just the right antidote with her tranquil and beautiful disc "Harp of the Heart." This soothing collection of tranquility, featuring her stunning gift on the harp, will leave you with repose of peacefulness. Tremmel lets the listeners feel the effects of the calming harp, as it is clean and crisp, while she performs with strong, heartfelt emotions. The titled track, "Harp of the Heart," not only instills a calm ambiance but the strings adorn the melody with harmonious formation. "Celebrando 20 Años" is the impressive new release from the San Francisco Bay Area based Salsa band known as Candela, led by Edgardo Cambón. The core instrumentation is piano, bass, three trombones, conga drums, bongo drums, timbales and vocalists. Their sound is characterized by energetic musical performances featuring great vocals unique to the genre, a solid rhythm section and powerful ensemble figures from the trombones. Their music combines and integrates many Afro-Cuban styles including the Mambo, Cha-Cha-Chá, Merengue, and Bolero. The opener, "El Flaco" features a great piano rhythm, embellished by the fine percussion section and reinforced by superb vocals. Their sound is highly original, very infectious and extremely danceable. For perfect examples of this, listen to the enthusiastic "Tumba, Timba y Trombón" which features a fabulous trombone solo and the lively "Yo Vine a Bailar La Salsa," which features outstanding vocal passages. The spirited acoustic guitar work and female lead vocal on the smooth "Corazón" give this track a great brazilian flavor. The impressive "Celebrando 20 Años" by Edgardo & Candela will have you dancing in no time and will be enjoyed by fans of Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, and Ray Barretto.

"Blue Norther" by The Bordersnakes is alternative/Americana album with a sound compiled from several influences. The basis is country, but throw in some blues and a blue collar rock element and there is a formula that equals high energy and a definite sing along ability. The arrangements are diverse and the performances are fantastic. Listeners will also appreciate the amount of passion behind the well-delivered, well-harmonized vocals. Overall, the band's sound is very complete and the song-writing ability is not to be ignored. The album sounds great, with evident care taken in heightening the experience by making every element of the sound represented. A highlight is the opener "State Road 7." There is and undeniable Springsteen element here, as this track has a raw power to it and a great piano line, and tears off the roof with a vibrant horn section. "Blue in the Face" features some great variation in the vocal performance, tons of energy, and clever lyrics. "Shadow On the Wall" has some beautiful harmony in the vocals and is hypnotic and mellow. The production value is excellent, and the tracks are crisp and ready for airwaves. "My Troubled World" by Angie Kopshy is an acoustic folk/pop CD showcasing Kopshy's strong piano and vocal abilities. Kopshy shows a nice vocal range on this CD, and her vocals are crisp and clean. The piano accompaniment is a refreshing switch from a full band sound, and nicely complements Kopshy's vocals. The incorporation of guitar and violin on select tracks helps keep the CD interesting throughout. "Sweet Lolita" is recorded on two tracks offering a choice between violin and guitar as accompaniment. Each track is equally impressive to hear. Although some songs are performed with a solo piano and vocals, "Endless" gives a taste of sweet harmonies. In a nice switch of tempos "Believe" makes you feel happy and upbeat. If you like to listen to acoustic folk/pop music in the style of such artists as Jewel or Tori Amos you should give this CD a try.

Identity Crisis and their CD "Mosaic," is appropriately titled as this collection of varying styles tells a love story through numerous musical genres. "The Idea of You" takes a Bossa Nova approach, putting the listener in an elegant surrounding but don't get too comfortable; "Best of Yourself" captures a smoky bar ambiance through an 8-bar blues number. "Bandaids on Bullet Wounds" by Black Lung Bandits (Rock Artist from California(CA))

From the infectious opening track, "It's Just Our Way," by original and innovating artists Black Lung Bandits, they establish a coalition of genres on their album "Bandaids on Bullet Wounds." The first track kicks off with an organic four on the floor pulse, balanced with dirty guitar interjections, and baritone vocal twang. There are songs with hard syncopated rhythms and riffs such as "On the Verge of a Good Feeling" or "The Girl from Iwo Jima" later juxtaposed by a more folk-infused approach, hip-hop rhyming, and even mariachi. One such example of this creativity is "Another Place" with edgy guitars, Middle Eastern tonality, and rapping rhymes. Saying that Black Lung Bandits are eclectic would be an understatement as they have originality and pull off the diversity of these genres. "Bandaids on Bullet Wounds" is a disc well worth hearing with the unique and fresh sounds of hard core rock, a touch of folk and rhyming hip-hop.
